Ernest and Eva Sheets, parents of E.D. Sheets, moved to Old Greer County in 1895. Mr. Sheets traded his team and wagon to a Mr. Dickson for 320 acres on the east side of the mountain where Granite, OK is now. There was a large pecan grove where the county would have a Fourth of July celebration. People came and camped in covered wagons. E D remembers that Ellison Carrol, the world champion at the time, was there riding an iron-gray horse.
